What is Hypnosis?
In a nutshell, hypnosis is a “relaxed focused state of concentration”.
Relaxed: Your body is so relaxed that you’re in this profound state of relaxation, where your body feels so relaxed that your brain doesn’t have to spend any energy monitoring your body. Your bodily functions continue to work but your mind doesn’t have to think about what your legs or arms are doing or use any energy for the thought process to monitor your body.
Focused: When you’re in a trance state, similar to watching a really good movie or reading an interesting book, where your mind focuses purely on what’s being said, what you’re reading, what you’re seeing or what’s being done. When you’re more focused in trance is when you absorb things better and have a better memory.
State: To make changes with hypnosis you have to be in a hypnotic state, when you’re in a hypnotic state the critical factor (conscious mind) can be bypassed to make the changes on a subconscious level, without this happening, change is unlikely to take place as the conscious mind will filter out any information it thinks it doesn’t need.
Concentration: By concentrating on a specific thing that’s going to happen, it could be an upcoming event or a change in your self that’s going to happen now or in the near future. It might be that you need more confidence in certain situations or improving on particular sports ability. Getting more focused concentration will bring about changes quickly and easily with the right suggestions.
